The European Union has unveiled a comprehensive €45 billion investment initiative aimed at strengthening its digital infrastructure and reducing reliance on foreign semiconductor manufacturers.

The strategy focuses on expanding domestic chip production, developing secure cloud services, and enhancing cybersecurity capabilities across member states. EU officials emphasized the importance of technological sovereignty in an increasingly competitive global market.

Part of the initiative includes funding for advanced research facilities and public-private partnerships to accelerate innovation in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and secure communications. The plan is expected to generate thousands of high-skilled jobs and bolster Europe’s position as a technology leader.
